Pizzorno: Annual library book sale nears Abilene Reporter-News

I pleasure the annual Friends of the Library annual Book Sale, coming up later this week (June 17-20)! I inamorata every part of it: from the first truckload of books coming in to the Civic Center to meet eager volunteers waiting with their hand trucks to start unloading, to the concluding closing of the doors on Sunday after the hectic Bag Sale. The week begins with anxious expectation and ends with satisfied enervation.

I know all my reasons for looking forward to the Book Sale. This year I decided to find out what other people intend. I asked some of my friends and acquaintances what their favorite things are.

Judy Fahey enjoys the great extract of books and the helpfulness of the volunteer staff. Jean Gore is glad to see the selections in the Genealogy Section. She also likes the prices. Judith Phaneuf anticipates stocking up on reading stuff for the next year — or even longer. She likes to see so many Abilene readers volunteering at the sale. Mark Hoover has seen the joy on people’s faces when they find a itemized book they were looking for and didn’t think they would find. He’s heard people say how excited they are with all their “pleasure” finds.
